Elsa Jaworski was guest number one on the Borderlands Trail and Ultra Running Podcast. Back then, it was called the DFL Before DNF podcast. I never intended for this podcast to be more than an exploration of my journey to 100 Miler #10.

I was working on a docuseries sponsored by Merrell about my awful DNF record at the 100 mile distance. I had started 9 100 mile races and finished only one. That’s 8 DNFs.
But to be honest, I didn’t hate my DNF record because I love running after a goal so much bigger than me that it mostly crushes me. And the 100 mile distance relentlessly crushes me. And I enjoy coming back for more.
But going into my 10th 100 miler, I was going to talk to anyone and everyone asking one question: How do you keep going when you want to quit?

Elsa Jaworski met me at the La Barba Coffee warehouse in Salt Lake City where we chatted for a bit about how she keeps going. As I plan for 100 miler #11, I will revisit Elsa Jaworski’s encouragement.
