Athletes don’t get sponsorships becuase they’re winning, they get sponsorships because they know how to tell their story.
Story Is The Root Of Trail Running.
Its a sport uniquely built and dependent on the everyday runners paying full price for everything compared to sports like soccer that depend on the elite performers and syndicated coverage and licensing agreements and such.

Soccer could thrive even if everyone in the world stopped playing except for the best of the best. Because its the consumption of the sport that makes it thrive, not participation in it.
Soccer money comes from TV coverage and jersey sales.
The money in trail running comes from the runners running. We buy the gear, pay the registration fees, watch the content, and obsess over our next big whatever all hours of the night.
Money comes from the actual trail runners, not the spectators.
How do we change that? Do we change that? Let someone with a spreadsheet in a high rise make that decision.
Until then, the heart of trail running is far more critical to our sport than performance.
