Outside is reinvesting in Trail Runner, signaling a renewed commitment to one of trail running’s longest-standing media brands.

In a message to readers, the publication outlined plans for expanded coverage across race reporting, gear reviews, training, photography, culture, and original journalism. The 27-year-old title described its future direction as “bolder, louder, deeper, and weirder” while emphasizing on-the-ground reporting and storytelling from across the trail running world.

The move comes as participation in trail running continues to grow globally and ahead of a major summer racing season that includes Broken Arrow and Western States. The editorial expansion suggests Outside sees continued opportunity in trail running as both a sport and a cultural movement.
